Why I Started PHOS

I grew up in Kansas City obsessed with sports. Whether it was the Chiefs, Royals, Iowa State, or the teams I played on myself, sports shaped the way I saw the world.

At the same time, I fell in love with storytelling.

What started as making videos for the middle school media club quickly became an obsession. I loved the challenge of creating something better than the last thing I made. The process of learning, improving, and competing through creativity became my sport.

As I got older, I started noticing something.

Some of the most talented athletes I knew weren't always the ones receiving the biggest opportunities. I watched teammates earn major honors but struggle to get recruited. I watched gifted athletes walk away from their sport because the right people never noticed them.

That lesson became even clearer when I joined the football program at Northwest Missouri State.

I originally planned to learn under an experienced creative team. Instead, I was unexpectedly placed into the role of Head Creative Producer and given a front-row seat to college athletics. I watched athletes dedicate years of their lives to their craft, and I saw firsthand how visibility impacted the opportunities they received.

After the 2023 season, several players entered the transfer portal. I offered to create recruiting content and highlight films for some of them. Of the eight athletes who transferred, six moved on to Division I programs.

That experience changed the way I viewed content.

I realized content isn't just about views or followers.

Visibility creates opportunity.

The athletes, programs, and brands that communicate their value effectively often gain access to opportunities that equally talented people never receive.

That's why I started PHOS.

Not because the world needs more content.

Because people deserve to be seen.

Today, PHOS helps athletes, programs, and brands build visibility through storytelling, strategy, and content systems designed to create lasting opportunities.

What "Light That Lasts" Means

PHOS comes from the Greek word for light.

As a Christian, the idea carries deep meaning for me. Light reveals what would otherwise go unseen. It brings clarity, direction, and attention to what matters.

That's how I think about storytelling.

Most people chase attention. They chase views, followers, and viral moments.

We're interested in something deeper.

A viral video can disappear in a week. A strong reputation can create opportunities for years.

That's why we focus on building visibility that lasts.

The goal isn't simply to get people noticed. The goal is to help athletes and brands communicate their value clearly enough that the right people can recognize it.

When someone works with PHOS, I want them to feel seen, understood, challenged, and supported.

I want PHOS to feel less like a service provider and more like a team.

A place where people compete at a high level, push each other to grow, celebrate each other's wins, and genuinely care about one another beyond the work itself.

That's the kind of community we're building.

That's what Light That Lasts means to me.

Why We Exist

We create content that builds influence, establishes trust, and creates opportunity.

We started PHOS because talent alone isn't always enough.

Every day, athletes put in countless hours of work that go unnoticed. Great programs build cultures that deserve recognition. Businesses create value that never gets communicated clearly.

We believe visibility creates opportunity.

Our mission is to help athletes, teams, and brands tell authentic stories that build trust, create influence, and open doors.

But PHOS is about more than content.

We want every partnership to feel personal. We care deeply about the people we work with. We celebrate their wins, support their growth, and create work that reflects the quality of what they've built.

Because the right story, told well, can change what's possible.

Values

What we hold the line on.

Authenticity

Real people. Real stories. Real results.

Excellence

If it isn't better than what's around it, it doesn't ship.

Personal

Partners are treated like family, not accounts.

Empowerment

Content, systems, and guidance, that compound over time.

Competition

Growth requires challenge. We pursue excellence relentlessly and refuse to settle for average.

Evolution

What worked yesterday won't guarantee tomorrow.
